PCI Geomatics Releases GeoImaging Tools for ArcGIS, version 2.0 Software

September 01, 2010 – Richmond Hill, Ontario: PCI Geomatics, a world leading developer of geo-imaging software and systems is pleased to announce the release of GeoImaging Tools for ArcGIS®, version 2.0. Offering accurate and highly automated tools for correcting raw satellite imagery, GeoImaging Tools is revolutionizing the integration of remotely sensed imagery into GIS workflows.

The release of GeoImaging Tools version 2.0 coincides and integrates directly within ESRI’s recently released ArcGIS version 10 software. With the GeoImaging Tools Image Correction Module, ArcGIS users will benefit from rigorous, automated multi-sensor support and be able to correct raw imagery using sensor model information, optionally with automatic GCPs and tie points from reference data such as chip databases, reference mosaics, or vectors. Higher levels of registration accuracy are achievable via block bundle adjustments. Users also have the option of saving the correction parameters and create mosaic datasets for direct use with ArcGIS for on-the-fly processing reducing data duplication.

With a sharp increase in data volume and collection platforms in recent years, accurate registration of large complex datasets remains a challenge. PCI’s GeoImaging Tools provides unparalleled automation for correcting imagery, making it possible for GIS users to achieve critical tasks such as feature extraction and change detection.

“With access to many unsupported sensors and data formats, along with the ability to create more spatially accurate imagery directly within ArcGIS, GeoImaging Tools is opening up new doors for GIS users,” said Terry Moloney, Interim President and Chief Executive Officer, PCI Geomatics. “GeoImaging Tools automates the image correction process so that GIS users can spend more time extracting relevant information from imagery, recognized as an integral part of geospatial analysis.”

Peter Becker, ESRI Product Manager - Imagery noted that, “PCI’s GeoImaging Tools significantly increases the range of commercial satellite images that our users can now use with ArcGIS and enables them to quickly refine the georeferencing accuracy for location critical applications.”

“We are very pleased to see PCI integrating their products with ESRI’s GIS and imagery platform,” said Lawrie Jordan, ESRI’s Director for Imagery Solutions.

GeoImaging Tools are designed specifically for ArcGIS users who use imagery within their workflows. GeoImaging Tools for ArcGIS version 2.0 is PCI’s second GeoImaging Tools product release, and features direct integration within the ArcGIS 10 Arc Toolbox. Upcoming product releases include the Radar Module, which will provide the best tools for Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data processing and analysis, including a comprehensive Polarimetric toolkit and support for all commercially available SAR sensors.
